Live sports broadcast case study

Mountain States Cup live broadcast.

Down The Wire Productions built course-wide live downhill mountain bike coverage for the Mountain States Cup, connecting field cameras, announcers, timing, graphics, replay workflows, sponsor inventory, streaming, and venue screens into one coordinated production.

The challenge

Broadcast an entire mountain, not just a finish line.

Downhill racing spreads the action across long, difficult terrain. The production had to connect camera positions across the course, keep commentary and timing aligned with the race, feed spectators in the venue, serve an online audience, and preserve sponsor visibility without slowing the event down.

The production

Field infrastructure built around how downhill racing actually works.

The show connected the start gate, course positions, commentary, timing, graphics, venue presentation, sponsors, and online viewers through one coordinated workflow. The system was designed around a remote outdoor sports environment rather than forcing a studio workflow onto the mountain.

Independent coverage

The broadcast was recognized in Mountain States Cup race reporting.

Pinkbike's September 5, 2026 race report for the Mountain States Cup finale credits the live broadcast to Down The Wire Productions and describes the series' effort to bring every category and rider to the live audience. An earlier Grand Targhee race report also credits Down The Wire and highlights the value riders found in being able to watch live course conditions before their runs.
